Peninsula Tower London & London Olympics 2012

Background April 2012

Less than 2 months before the start of the London Olympics and security on the site became an issue. The coalition government at the time concluded that the incumbent organisation were not capable of managing the security at the Olympic Stadiums.

Conclusion

The British Army should be brought in to manage security but suitable accommodation was required.

Requirement

Building sufficient accommodation to house up to 1000 troops

A series of 4 Master Key suites that ensured no duplication of keys but gave individual access to rooms, kitchens and 2 levels of entrance (i.e) main door to street level + floor level.

All this was required very quickly. Our customer ITFITZ required a phased call of over a matter of days. MKS had to ensure clear identification of all product including its final destination. 4 individual Master Key suites totalling over 600 cylinders were designed and built in a matter of days.

The Peninsula Tower is now under re-construction as apartments due for completion in 2017.
